West Island Cyclones selected finalists for Speed Skating Canada club of the year

The West Island’s only speed skating club is one of five national finalists eligible to win SSC’s $10,000 Intact Insurance Club of Excellence Award.

DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX, Quebec, July 15, 2020 – CPV West island Cyclones announced today they have been selected by Speed Skating Canada as one of five national finalists for the Intact Insurance Club of Excellence Award for the 2019-2020 season.

“Our entire team is thrilled that our proactive efforts to build the sport of short track speed skating in our region have been recognized for this prestigious award,” says CPV West Island Cyclones President, Simon Robins. “Congratulations to our coaches and athletes as well as all of our parent volunteers for this remarkable achievement. We are extremely proud that Intact considers us worthy for consideration for the overall award, which will be announced later in the year.”

The $2,500 prize awarded to finalists will be used to support the team’s expansion, which in 2020-2021 will include training on the Olympic-sized ice at the Pierrefonds Sportplexe. Thanks to Intact Insurance for their sponsorship of this respected national award covering both short track and long track speed skating.
